All six in the vehicle were teenagers, including 16 year-old Alex Cryer, who has been identified as the deceased in a letter to parents from the Granite Ridge Education Centre.
He’s remembered as a cherished member of the school community. The school says they will have support on hand for the students.
The vehicle he was in has been identified as an SUV. It was travelling on Settlement Road which is gravel, just after noon on Thursday when it rolled into the ditch and hit a tree. Cryer was a passenger, not driving.
The other five teens were brought to hospital. No update has been released on their condition.
The investigation into exactly what happened continues.
