Boating season is upon us for another year as the Rideau Canal Corridor opens this morning to marine traffic.
The May long weekend brings with it the spring shoulder, meaning that the locks will be staffed from 10am until 4 pm, Monday through Thursday, and 9am until 7pm Friday through Saturday.
External Relations Manager, Trent-Severn Waterway and Rideau Canal, Parks Canada Karen Feeley says staff have been getting ready for the past couple of weeks.
And she says the Rideau Canal Corridor draws boaters from near and far.
Feeley also notes that the canal celebrates the communities across the corridor, which works out to be a tourist boon for all involved.
You can get information on fees, times for the entire season and much more from Parks Canada’s website here.
You can also get daily updates on the waterway’s conditions through their X feed, found here.
