The division among Rideau Lakes council was again on full display Monday when an organization was set to make a presentation.
Rideau Lakes Grass Roots is a citizen-led watchdog group keeping tabs on what council is doing and has been openly critical of various decisions.
They made a delegation at the latest meeting but it almost didn’t happen, as four councillors voted against letting them present.
There’s long-standing history of with the organization and some sitting council members who’ve felt attacked by them before both in public and in private.
That resulted in a tense debate led by Mayor Arie Hoogenboom, who spoke to transparency and the call of duty they have as elected officials.
The presentation was eventually heard.
