There’ll be a delegation from the Smiths Falls Station Theatre before council moves ahead to renew its building lease for another 10 years.
Council didn’t rubber stamp the renewal because as Dawn Quinn feels, the site is not as busy as it could be.
Mayor Shawn Pankow agrees.
The town covers maintenance costs, and recoup some but not all of the 30-$35,000 of operation expenses each year through the theatre group.
Staff say it costs between 30 to $35,000 annually to maintain the property, with some of those costs collected back through the tenants.
They proposed a annual renting fee of $10,000, with inflation adjustments every two years.
