More discussion will be had at a future meeting on allowing fireworks to be set off in Rideau Lakes.
The current by-law prohibits the setting of fireworks without a permit, and only allows them to be set on specified holidays.
But that’s been historically hard to enforce says Fire Chief Gene Richardson.
72% of the near 500 respondents of a town survey said they’d be in favour of allowing fireworks in Rideau Lakes, with 68% saying they should be allowed only for special occasions.
