There’s been a shift of the types of crimes taking place or at the very least, being reported in Smiths Falls, according to Acting Chief Jodi Empey.
Empey says that’s against the provincial numbers that are seeing fewer property crimes and increased violent crimes as a whole.
While last year’s numbers will be made public in the coming weeks, the 2022 report showed a 26% jump in property crimes and 34% decrease in violent crimes in 2022 from 2021.
