On June 8, 2024, at around 10:00 a.m., the Leeds County OPP responded to an emergency on County Road 42, near Settlement Road.
Concerned citizens had found a 71-year-old cyclist from Ottawa who seemed to have fallen off their bike.
The Leeds OPP determined that no collision was involved. Instead, the cyclist was thrown over the handlebars when a foreign object jammed the front wheel, causing a sudden stop.
The Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service are now leading the investigation.
