We’re in for a hot, hot week and the Leeds, Grenville, and Lanark Health Unit wants to make sure everyone watches their health.
Dr. Linna Li says it’s messaging worthy of a reminder. She says the heat can effect your health.
But its not just people with health or age issues that are vulnerable.
She has the reminders that we’ve become accustomed to:
- Drink lots of water in sips, don’t guzzle it.
- If you can, stay in air conditioning whenever possible.
- Take a cool shower to lower your body heat.
- Eat food high in water content like watermelon and other fruit.
- Don’t drink too much coffee.
- If you have to go out, do so in short spurts and seek shaded areas.
- Wear loose, light clothing.
- Keep your curtains closed to keep the heat out.
That’s just the beginning, but it’s a good start.
The Dr. says if you’re not careful you could really damage your health.
And she says it’s not just those who she’s mentioned today, but everyone, all of us, are at risk. So we must all take precautions as the heat wave sets in.
