When the work is done, residents in neighbourhoods bordering Almonte’s Mercer and Marshall Street areas will no longer be swamped with excess water.
A project first conceived in 2016 is set to get underway Monday June 17th, and includes an amended design to deal with drainage issues in adjacent neighbourhoods.
The roadways will also be redesigned to better accommodate all types of traffic- motorists, as well as active transporation users: pedestrians and cyclists.
Core Civil Construction has been awarded the contract for $2,562,180.
During the project, Mercer Street and Marshall Street will be closed, with access limited to local traffic only.
It’s anticipated the work will be done by Halloween.
