As the school year winds down for the UCDSB and CDSBEO, parents in Lanark and Leeds, are bracing for the inevitable chorus of “I’m bored” from their kids.
With splash pads and local beaches open, along with local playgrounds and structures, there’s no shortage of outdoor fun to keep them entertained.
At home, it could be a different story. Here are a couple of ideas to get you started.
Involving kids in meal preparation is a great way to spend quality time together. Not only does it keep them busy, but it also teaches valuable cooking skills. Let them help with simple tasks like washing vegetables, stirring ingredients, or setting the table.
For those staying close to home, backyard activities are plentiful. Set up a tent for a camping adventure, organize a treasure hunt, or have a water balloon fight. Creative activities like painting rocks or building a birdhouse can keep young minds engaged.
Many parents are still working from home, which can make managing kids during the summer a challenge. Establishing a schedule with designated playtimes and quiet times can help maintain a balance.
At least it’s only two, very long, months until school goes back in!
