Jury recommendation 77 from the inquest into ending Intimate Partner Violence in Ontario asks the Chief Coroner to consider adopting Femicide as one of the categories for manner of death.

When it comes to referring to femicide, there’s still a ways to go before all are using the terminology.
It’s not as simple as just changing a term or two, the criminal code has to be updated to reflect the use of the word.
That said, Lee says organizations such as Lanark County Interval House and the Domestic Violence Death Review Committee, which she is also a part of have made the switch.
