Yak Youth Group in Perth has launched their “We ❤️ Perth” campaign which sees T-shirts and Canvas tote bags being sold locally.
It’s part of Yak’s new Social Enterprise Initiative.
The design on the products was created by local teen Nathan Wooby who really enjoyed the design process. He told us about the design, which features the town’s iconic water tower, with the words, “Heritage Perth” written across it, and the cause it helps.
The water tower was chosen strategically as the first design as Yak plans to bring the shirts and bags to the Stewart Park Festival where residents and visitors alike can grab the unique keepsake.
It will be a novel experience for Nathan too once sales really begin to roll in.
The Social Enterprise Contract is funded by The Perth & District Community Foundation. Social Enterprise Contractor Amica Hewitt said in a statement, that after months the lightbulb moment dawned, “people are proud of our town, visitors adore our town, we don’t really have Perth-focused merchandise, do we?”, she said adding, “the business venture quickly took off”.
The Perth Water Tower T-shirt ($25) and tote ($20) can be purchased at the Perth Museum & Visitor Information Centre. They will also be sold, as mentioned, during the Stewart Park Festival, from July 19-21.
As for Nathan, he’s taking away an important lesson, and a wonderful experience.
