New Smiths Falls Police Chief Jodi Empey knows the community’s frustrated with the rise and fall of property crimes in the area.
They’re upset too, as police often interact with the same offenders on many occasions before they’re locked up and released again a short time later, a sticking point for Empey.
She told myFM it’s upsetting for both the police and the community that this has become the status quo, noting they offer drug and mental health support services for common reoffenders who need it.
Empey was recently named Chief of Police for Smiths Falls and has just marked 30 years with the service.
