
11 individuals are facing 165 charges after 13 search warrants were executed August 8th in Ottawa, Carleton Place, and Gatineau.
Dubbed Project Fossil, several police services seized narcotics with an estimated street value of $2.7 million.
In a video media release, OPP Acting Chief Superintendent Mike Stoddart said their job is harm reduction.
The Ontario Provincial Police Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, supported by the Ottawa Police Service and the Sûreté du Québec began Project Fossil in September 2023.
Police say it was an intelligence-led investigation with the objective to investigate multiple independent cells of high-level and mid-level drug trafficking networks supplying illegal commodities to drug distribution networks within our communities, including online distribution methods.
The Cornwall Police Service, RCMP, and Canada Border Services Agency were among the 22 police organizations and branches which assisted in the execution of the search warrants.
Throughout the course of the investigation, police seized:
- 15 kg of suspected cocaine
- Four kg of suspected methamphetamine
- 2.25 kg of suspected heroin
- Seven pounds of suspected psilocybin and more than 1,000 psilocybin edibles
- 33 grams of suspected MDMA
- 2,000 hydromorphone tablets
- More than 35 pounds of illegal cannabis, two kg cannabis concentrates and more than 1,000 cannabis edibles
- Two firearms
- Approximately $337,000 in Canadian currency
- Approximately $880,000 in gold
- More than 75 prohibited devices (conducted energy weapons)
28-year-old Jasdeep Grewal of Carleton Place is facing one charge, while 26-year-old Avdeep Grewal, also of Carleton Place, is facing six.
Other individuals charged include:
- 35-year-old Chadi Hage, Ottawa, 34 charges
- 42-year-old Zaki Hakeemi, Ottawa, 27 charges
- 29-year-old Miguel Dube, Gatineau, QC, 24 charges
- 27-year-old Adyson Hardy, Ottawa, 19 charges
- 35-year-old Arsid Kaduku, Gatineau, QC, 17 charges
- 31-year-old Abdi Anonug, Ottawa, 15 charges
- 28-year-old Arthur Rubwindi, Ottawa, 11 charges
- 36-year-old Andrew Godard, Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre (unrelated matters), nine charges
- 35-year-old Kerri-Ann Conway, Ottawa, two charges
