The Town of Carleton Place is reviewing and updating its Development Permit System (DPS) By-law, and residents are encouraged to share their thoughts.
The DPS By-law, a crucial land use planning tool, simplifies the application process by combining Zoning By-law Amendments, Minor Variances, and Site Plan Applications into one streamlined system.
This update, the first since the by-law was consolidated in 2022, aims to reflect new urban design guidelines, district character, and align with provincial legislation.
The review process will occur in three phases: Background (Summer/Fall 2024), Draft DPS By-law (Fall 2024), and Adoption of DPS By-law (Winter 2025).
The Town wants to ensure the updated by-law addresses public needs and interests, so community members are invited to participate in a survey.
