The Ontario government is reminding everyone to stay safe this respiratory illness season by getting their flu and COVID-19 vaccines. Flu shots will be available for high-priority groups starting in early October, with free shots for the general public beginning October 28, 2024. COVID-19 vaccines are expected to arrive in Ontario by early October.
Residents are encouraged to get both vaccines at the same time to avoid multiple visits. The RSV vaccine, Beyfortus®, will also be available for infants and high-risk children, while pregnant women can get Abrysvo® to protect newborns from RSV.
With an increase in whooping cough cases, parents are urged to ensure their children are up to date with all their vaccinations. Vaccines in Ontario’s routine immunization schedule are free for eligible residents.
