With the weather once again in the mid to high 20s, you may be considering going out for a swim despite the calendar saying September.
If you do, the health unit’s provided a few tips to help gauge a beach’s water quality.
- Avoid swimming if the beach water is cloudy due to high winds causing waves or following a heavy rainfall. Cloudy water can be an indication of high levels of bacteria.
- Swimming in shallow, sheltered and warm water is also not recommended as it may also contain high levels of bacteria.
