The government recently announced some changes in eligibility for dental care programs aimed at those living with low income.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Linna Li explains how the health unit is involved with some of those programs.
Jill Hicks, a registered dental hygienist with the health unit says some of the programs they help with are for seniors like the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program.
There is also the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), a federally funded dental care program that now includes eligible children under the age of 18, and adults 18 and over with a valid Disability Tax Credit certificate.
Jenny Vandermeer, Manager of the health unit’s Oral Health Program explains how seniors can access the Seniors Dental Care Program.
Those locations are Smiths Falls, Lanark, Brockville and Lanark and the number to call is 1-844-973-1400.
Next week we’ll tell you about programs that are available if you need dental care, but are not a senior.
You can find out more at the Health Unit’s website.
