No charges are coming to a Leeds County OPP officer after they were cleared of excessive force accusations in connection with the serious injury of a 29-year-old woman in Elizabethtown-Kitley.
Officers were called to a home in mid-May after the woman reportedly assaulted her boyfriend.
During the attempted arrest, an officer wrestled the woman’s arms behind her back and pushed her forward to lay flat on the ground, fracturing her knee.
SIU Director Joseph Martino agreed the injury came from the attempted arrest, but concluded the officer’s actions were not done with excessive force.
