Lawyers for former Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston MPP Randy Hillier presented their appeal to the Ontario Court of Appeal last week.
They argued the Reopening Ontario Act’s limits on freedom of assembly during COVID-19 lockdowns were unreasonable.
Hillier was charged in 2021 for participating in anti-lockdown rallies.
His lawyers claimed the restrictions violated his Charter rights and the judge in the original ruling misapplied legal tests. The court will deliver its decision later.
