Ontario childcare providers who opted out of the $10 per day program, known as the The Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) program, will not receive provincial support when the new funding formula is implemented next year.
Funding is shifting to a cost-based approach for participating childcare centres on January 1st instead of revenue replacement.
Lanark County Director of Social Services Emily Hollington briefed council on the local impact.
The four childcare centres include Perth’s Children House, Almonte Nursery School, Day by Day Child Care, and Natural Collections Home Child Care Agency.
Hollington says the county can decide to support the the impacted centres with taxpayer dollars if that’s the direction they want to take.
