St. Michael Catholic High School in Kemptville will be closed again tomorrow (Monday) as officials, including police, continue to investigate threats of violence at the school.
Parents received a communication from the school late Sunday afternoon letting them know of the move.
The school has been receiving threats for about the past three weeks.
Students were put into a four-hour lockdown, and the school and other schools in Kemptville were closed last Thursday, then St. Mike’s was closed again on Friday.
In the email to parents, the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario said “As of this evening, a full evaluation of threats to St. Michael CHS has not been completed in order to accurately assess the risk to public safety. As a result of this, St. Michael CHS will be closed tomorrow, Monday, October 7, 2024. Our hope is to obtain additional information that will help provide you with an update tomorrow.”
The Board’s central offices are located in the same building as the school.
