The Smiths Falls Heritage House Museum has announced the winners of the 2024 Rideau Artist of the Year Competition. Nearly 40 artists took part in the outdoor event on September 7th and 8th, capturing picturesque scenes from Combined Lock Station to the Bascule Bridge.
Smiths Falls resident Rachel Houlton won the Intermediate Award for the second year in a row, taking home a $1,000 prize and the title of Rideau Artist of the Year. Youth artist MaKenna Cleaver also earned recognition, receiving a $200 prize and a $50 gift certificate to The Craft Witch.
The winning works, along with other submissions, are on display at the Artisan Village, 10 Maple Ave, Smiths Falls, until November 2.
The museum’s next show, the 43rd Annual Art Show, will run from November 10 to December 21. Artists can apply until October 19 by contacting the museum at 613-283-6311 or heritagehouse@smithsfalls.ca.
