Lanark County OPP will be out in full force over the Thanksgiving long weekend as part of a nationwide traffic safety campaign called Operation Impact. The initiative, led by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP), focuses on reducing dangerous driving behaviours like speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving, and not wearing seat belts.
Local officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment will increase their presence on the roads throughout the weekend to ensure that everyone is driving safely.
Motorists are being reminded to stay focused, buckle up, obey the posted speed limits, and avoid driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The campaign’s goal is to prevent accidents and make sure that all road users can have a safe holiday. With more police patrols expected, drivers should plan ahead to avoid risky behaviours and help make the roads safer for everyone.
