Smiths Falls Mayor Shawn Pankow sees the proposed parks and recreation implementation strategy as a recovery document after years of the department being on the back burner.
The living document includes about $3.5 million of projects the department hopes to address within the next five years and will bring forward to council for budget discussions.
Councillor Chris McGuire says there’s not much value to it if council’s not ready to have the serious conversations.
McGuire says the same thing happened with the downtown revitalization plan where it had council support but was cut to the bone when the time came to implementation.
