Smiths Falls council received a high level guideline for the 2025 budget.
Staff are preparing for a third straight decrease of Ontario Municipal Funding, the main source of cashflow provided by the province.
It’s a frustrating trend for Councillor Jay Brennan.
Smiths Falls has seen a decrease of their OMPF of nearly $264,000 since 2022.
Director of Corporate Services and Treasurer Paul Dowber says a large expense to the town each year has been insurance.
It’s increased nearly $270,000 in the past 5 years.
The plan is to approve the budget at the February 17th meeting.
