Her Excellency the Right Honorable Governor General of Canada Mary Simon awarded the Vice Regal Commendation for Service to Almonte residents Jim and Phyllis Moore last week.
Phyllis was honoured posthumously for her volunteering with Brownies and Girl Guides as well as St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Almonte, while also devoting hundreds of hours supporting the first Syrian refugee family to settle in town, and serving as a board member of Home Hospice North Lanark.
Jim spent the better part of his public service career in support of Indigenous Peoples across Canada.
