Lanark County hopes to lobby the province to review the cost of the OPP at the annual Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) conference in January.
It’s one of four delegations they’re hoping to have with provincial representatives.
It was an idea floated at a recent Carleton Place council meeting that Mayor and County Councillor Toby Randell thought was worth elevating.
It would have to be done in a tactful manner, Councillor Bill King pointed out.
King was referring to an earlier discussion during the meeting about seeking information from the OPP regarding the excessive speeds and other contributing factors seen on Highway 7 that makes it an increasingly dangerous highway to drive.
The other ROMA delegations the county are requesting include: Seeking an increase to Ontario Works and Ontario Disability Support Program supports, and additional funding to expand their transitional housing program at the former Willowdale Retirement residence in Smiths Falls.
