
The festive spirit is alive and well in Lanark County, with several towns hosting Santa Claus parades to kick off the holiday season. Mark your calendars for these festive events:
Perth: Dec 7, 5 p.m.
The parade in Perth begins at The Factory on Sunset Boulevard and winds through the streets, including Wilson, Foster, and Gore, before ending at The Queen Elizabeth School. Don’t forget to register ahead at perthsantaclausparade.com.
Smiths Falls: Dec 14, 5 p.m.
The theme for this year’s Smiths Falls Santa Claus Parade is “Winter Sports,” with floats starting at Youth Arena at 3 p.m. and moving along Elmsley St., Beckwith St., and Brockville St. Make sure to bring non-perishable food donations for the “Build A Mountain of Food” campaign. A pancake breakfast for kids follows at the Legion on Dec 15.
Carleton Place: Nov 30, 5 p.m.
Carleton Place’s Santa Claus Parade starts at 5 p.m. from Carleton Place High School and travels down Lake Avenue and Bridge Street to the Carambeck Community Centre. Can’t make it in person? Watch the parade live on the Recreation & Culture Department’s Facebook page.
Almonte: Dec 8, 5 p.m.
The Almonte Christmas Parade is a dazzling spectacle with music, lights, and classic holiday cheer. Starting at 5 p.m. at the Rexall parking lot, the parade will make its way through Ottawa St., Main St., Mill St., and Bridge St., ending at the John Levi Community Centre. Free hot dogs, hot chocolate, and a public skate await at the community centre, with donations accepted for the Lanark County Food Bank.
Pakenham: Dec 7, 1 p.m.
The Pakenham Santa Claus Parade is a favorite for families, featuring festive floats and animals. The parade starts at 1 p.m., with donations for the Hunger Stop being collected along the route. Afterward, enjoy a free public skate at the Stewart Community Centre. This year’s theme is “Classic Christmas.”
