
A 16-year-old has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of 15-year-old Reese Stanzel in Perth.
On Friday, October 25, Lanark OPP responded to a report at North Street North and Sherbrooke Street East. Officers found one person dead and arrested another at a nearby home.
Initially charged with second-degree murder, the accused teen’s charge was upgraded following further investigation. The teen remains in custody, and a bail hearing is scheduled for November 28 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth. Due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identity of the accused is not being released.
