There’s been some conversation about why murder victim Reese Stanzel’s name was released to the public by the OPP, but not the suspect.
Lots of people do know the 16-year-old suspect’s identity, but Spokesperson Bill Dickson says doing so publicly would violate the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Dickson explains their reasoning behind identifying the murder victim.
The suspect had their initial charge of second-degree murder elevated to first-degree murder last week following further investigation.
