Elgin and Westport saw record-breaking success during the RCL Automotive Build a Mountain of Food campaign.
In Elgin, volunteers collected 1,440 pounds of food and $10,850.75 in cash donations, surpassing last year’s totals. Westport exceeded expectations with 2,200 pounds of food and $19,855.20 in cash raised.
These impressive numbers highlight the community’s generosity as the holidays approach. The donations will help local food banks support families in need.
The campaign heads to Portland and Merrickville Saturday. Volunteers will collect donations on Saturday, December 7.
In Portland, donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the LCBO and RBC in support of the Portland Food Bank. In Merrickville, donations can be dropped off from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Merrickville Food Market. Proceeds will aid the Merrickville Lions Club’s Christmas Food Hamper Campaign.
Organizers encourage everyone to give generously to keep the momentum going.
