Algonquin College will close its Perth campus by August 2026 due to a multi-million dollar deficit across its Ottawa, Pembroke, and Perth sites.
President Claude Brule shared in a letter that the deficit stems from a federal cap on international students, changes to post-graduate work permits, and a freeze on domestic tuition.
The closure is driven by a projected $32 million revenue loss in the 2024-25 school year for the college across all sites and an expected $60 million deficit in 2025-26.
Programs at the Perth campus, which serves about 350 students in business-agriculture, nursing, and heritage trades, will continue until the end of the 2026 Spring Term.
They will then be moved to the Ottawa campus. The college is exploring additional financial measures, including a full program review.
While the Perth campus will close, Algonquin’s Ottawa and Pembroke campuses will remain open to students.
