Here’s a follow up to a story we first told you about last week.
Smiths Falls Police have now laid several charges after a hit-and-run on Lombard Street on January 4.
Police responded to a 9-1-1 call around noon that day reporting a collision where one vehicle fled the scene.
Officers quickly began investigating and located the suspect vehicle.
Matthew Lewis, 28, of Ottawa, was arrested and charged with failure to stop after an accident, attempting to obstruct justice, obstructing a peace officer, possession of property obtained by crime, failure to comply with a probation order, and multiple provincial offences.
Police confirmed that Lewis was held for a bail hearing following his arrest.
Police are reminding drivers to remain at the scene of any accidents and cooperate with investigations.
