A 61-year-old man has been charged with multiple sexual offences following an investigation by the Leeds County OPP and Family and Children Services of Lanark, Leeds and Grenville.
Police say the investigation began on Jan. 28 after reports surfaced that a child had been sexually assaulted. The Leeds OPP Crime Unit assisted with the case.
The accused is facing six charges, including two counts of sexual interference, two counts of sexual assault on a person under 16, and two counts of invitation to sexual touching under 16.
The suspect was remanded into custody after a bail hearing and is set to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on Feb. 7.
To protect the victim’s identity, the accused’s name has not been released.
