Lanark County Council has approved a $704,400 start-up grant to the Municipality of Mississippi Mills for the expansion of its child care centre.
This funding is part of the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) expansion plan. The grant will help create 78 new child care spaces for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
The expansion follows updates to CWELCC guidelines, which now allow previously non-participating child care providers to apply for funding. Perth Children’s House and the Cooperative Nursery School of Almonte have opted into the program.
The grant will support the creation, retrofitting, or renovation of child care facilities, helping meet the growing demand for child care spaces in the region.
The funding is fully covered by provincial and federal sources. For more information, contact Emily Hollington, Director of Social Services, at 1-888-9-LANARK, ext. 2101.
