Rob Rainer has been selected as the “Ontario Unity Candidate” for Lanark–Frontenac–Kingston by Cooperate For Canada, a group focused on uniting centre-left voters.
Rainer, the Ontario Liberal candidate, says he is honoured by the endorsement. He believes vote-splitting among progressives has helped Premier Doug Ford stay in power and is calling on NDP and Green supporters to rally behind him.
“With support from voters across the political spectrum, we can defeat Ford’s Conservatives,” said Rainer.
Ford’s decision to call a snap election for Feb. 27 could lower voter turnout, Rainer warns. He says many Ontarians will be away or discouraged by winter weather.
Rainer, Tay Valley Township reeve, says his leadership experience and commitment to progressive values make him the best choice for the riding.
“Change is possible,” he said. “Together, we can build a better future.”
