Lanark County Council has approved changes to its traffic by-law, expanding it to cover additional regulatory signs on county roads.
The update follows a request for a “no left turn” sign on McNeely Avenue in Carleton Place, which required a by-law for installation. After reviewing the request, other existing signs without a by-law were also identified.
The amendment includes new categories, such as lane designations, turn controls, pedestrian crossovers, and reserved lanes. This is part of a larger effort to consolidate 80 traffic by-laws into one comprehensive document.
The new “no left turn” sign on McNeely Avenue will direct southbound traffic away from a right-in/right-out entrance near the Mississippi River Bridge.
