Dillon Consulting’s Affordable and Inclusive Housing Plan provided recommendations Smiths Falls council could take to address the affordable housing crisis.
The plan provided few surprises to the council, instead reinforcing the issues the horseshoe have started to tackle.
Mayor Shawn Pankow said it’s important to stay on top of the issue.
One suggestion was bringing back a housing committee, but councilor Peter McKenna doesn’t see the point.
If anything, McKenna says a committee could oversee the entirety of the official plan and work to hold council responsible on sticking to that, which includes addressing affordable housing.
