The Town of Perth is warning residents about a fraudulent text message claiming to be from the town regarding an outstanding parking ticket.
The message includes a link to make a payment, but authorities say this is a scam.
The town has confirmed that neither Provincial Offences nor By-law will ever contact individuals via text for payments.
If you receive the scam message, do not click on the link or provide any personal or payment information. Instead, report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca.
