Robin Daigle of Inverness Homes appeared before Carleton Place council’s committee to make his case for increased housing density on a block of town-homes in their Comrie Hills project in the Town’s north end.
Daigle stated the density reduction recommended by Town planning staff took him by surprise and represented a major decrease in units.
Inverness argued that the Town had approved other developments with higher densities but Mayor Toby Randell said the Town’s position was in line with the Official Plan and Development Permit bylaws.
In the end, council’s committee denied the application, leaving the developer to either change their plans or appeal the decision to the Ontario Land Tribunal.
