Local food directory expands to connect farmers and consumers
As the buy-Canadian movement shows no sign of letting up, FoodCore Leeds-Grenville, Lanark is stepping up to help consumers find local food from local producers.
They’re expanding and updating the Lanark Local Flavours directory. FoodCore’s Ramsey Hart explains what that is.
Hart says its something they’ve wanted to update for a while, but couldn’t really act until a grant came in from Lanark County.
The expanded directory will showcase a variety of food producers, from fruit and vegetable growers to livestock farmers and maple syrup makers.
With increased interest in buying Canadian products, the update, which will come in the form of a web portal and possibly a paper map, is expected to come at a perfect time.
Anyone who would like to be notified when the directory is ready can sign up for the FoodCore LGL newsletter by sending an email to localflavours@thetablecfc.org.
You can also visit their website (found here) to learn about the work they’re doing.
Local farmers and food producers in Leeds-Grenville and Lanark Counties are encouraged to join the directory to reach more customers.
