The 2025 budget for the South East Health Unit received unanimous approval February 26th.
It’s a balanced budget of $60,277,410, a good starting point in the eyes of board member Anne-Marie Koiner.
The budget, which can be found here, took some doing as the three former area health units became one as their finances became intertwined.
Medical Officer of Health and CEO Piotr Oglaza said they’ll have to find savings or additional revenue in the years ahead as their operation expenses are on track to exceed their annual government funding.
Oglaza said that could lead to tough decisions having to be made.
Nearly $48 million of the expense budget is salaries and employment benefits.
