All hope is not lost for a high speed rail stop in Smiths Falls.
CAO Malcom Morris said the announcement of the Alto rail line connecting Toronto to Quebec City only included the corridors that must be connected, and is hopeful their town is included in a subsequent announcement.
At this point, few details have been provided.
The town’s been advocating hard to be included in the project, which spans 1,000km and will cut travel time down from Ottawa to Toronto to just over two hours with the electric train eclipsing speeds up to 300km/hr.
Morris is working on securing a delegation from a representative of the project to provide council more information, and another chance to make their case to be included.
