Liberal Candidate for Lanark-Frontenac Michelle Foxton says her party is in good hands with new leader and soon-to-be-Prime Minister Mark Carney.
Foxton tells myFM the decisive leadership results actually reflect what members of the party and others are saying in ridings across the country.
Foxton says when it comes to the pocketbook, Carney’s victory speech-announcement that his government will begin by abolishing the consumer carbon tax and changes to capital gains tax shows he’s paying attention to the electorate.
The candidate for the yet-to-be-called federal election says Carney’s Canada Strong message about unity aligns with what is happening in her home riding of Lanark-Frontenac.
Foxton was named the candidate for Liberal Party of Canada back in July. She is a lawyer and former South Frontenac municipal councillor. She placed second in the 2021 election with 26.4% of the vote to long-time Conservative incumbent Scott Reid’s 48.9%.
