Perth’s Director of Community Services Cathy McNally provided an update to Perth council on the Town’s communications activities. She reported that the Town’s newest online page, Engage Perth, launched in May of last year has been getting better than expected public engagement.
She explained what the numbers mean.
As with most social media accounts for local governments, permitting and responding to online comments is a time-consuming task and often involves dealing with some very negative messaging. McNally noted that comments features are still active for Perth but staff is looking into alternatives rather than just turning off the public comments feature.
Mayor Judy Brown congratulated staff on their work fighting the rampant misinformation about many Town issues, especially Caivan Communities’ plans to develop the former Golf Course lands.
