Lanark County is set for a busy construction season in 2025, with a $12.17-million plan focused on road improvements. The public works department will complete pavement preservation on 16.2 kilometres of roads and add paved shoulders to another 24.8 km.
The county manages more than 560 km of roads and 82 bridges and culverts. Roadwork priorities follow a five-year planning process to ensure long-term infrastructure maintenance.
Funding includes almost $2.2 million from the federal Canada Community-Building Fund and $735,973 from the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund. The investment supports safer roads and improved transportation across the region.
Paved shoulders are a key focus, providing safer routes for pedestrians and cyclists. Road rehabilitation ensures a smoother and longer-lasting surface for drivers.
The county’s strategy balances safety, efficiency and fiscal responsibility while keeping roadways in good condition for residents and visitors. Work is expected to be completed by the end of the construction season.
