A veterans banner hangs proudly in The Town of Perth (2023)
Veterans banners will be flying proudly in Lanark Highlands this year.
At the request Jim Scanland, a member of the Lanark Legion, council is buying and installing up to 15 banner brackets for the banners to be displayed in honour of local veterans.
It’ll cost about $1,500 and council directed staff to include the banner program as a line item for the 2026 budget with the intention to purchase more brackets for additional banners.
There were talks about installing banners throughout Lanark Highlands and not just in the Village, but Deputy Reeve Bill King said they should start small.
Audio PlayerKing pointed to a local example as why that makes sense to him, at least for this year.
Audio PlayerThe banners will be installed in late September and taken down shortly after Remembrance Day.
