Is your well water safe? Health officials urge testing this spring
The South East Health Unit is reminding residents to test their well water as spring runoff can affect its safety.
Dr. Linna Li, Deputy Medical Officer of Health, emphasized the importance of testing and treatment for private wells.
Sarah Burris, Senior Public Health Inspector, says the time to test your water is now.
Since contamination may not change the taste or smell, testing is the only way to confirm safety.
The Health Unit recommends testing at least three times a year and provides free sample bottles at nine locations.
For concerns about chemical contaminants like arsenic and lead, Dr. Li suggests further testing.
More details are available on the Health Unit’s website or by calling 1-800-660-5853.
