A preliminary design of a proposed roundabout in Carleton Place
Lanark County is exploring the construction of two roundabouts at Lake Avenue and Townline Road in Carleton Place to handle projected congestion.
Council opted to purse this route in lieu of converting the roads to four lanes, but will continue that ongoing process from Coleman St. to Lake Avenue.
Councilor Peter McLaren feels the preliminary design is well though out.
Councillor Christa Lowry pointed to the safety benefits of roundabouts, attempting to dispel common misconceptions.
The estimated cost of the Lake Avenue build is $8 million, which is currently slated to begin next summer, as opposed to $25 million for the other proposed option of twinning the McNeely Avenue Bridges.
A public session will be held prior to final approval.
